Montreal Bakery: Simplement D' Liche

D Liche in Montreal

While in Montreal, I visited Simplement D'Liche which is a new bakery on Rue St. Denis. I stopped in and talked to the owners and ordered cupcakes.

The cupcakes were delicious.  The black cupcake is not made with squid ink or food coloring. It's just a very chocolate cupcake.

I really like their logo as it incorporates the outline of a cupcake, a cup of coffee and the letter "D".

If you visit Montreal, you should stop by D'Liche. Check them out on Facebook as well.

Cupcake Inspiration In Montreal

Montreal Day 1

Question: Is this a cupcake?
One: It's  a cake. Check.
Two: It was baked in a muffin/cupcake pan. Check.
Three: It doesn't have frosting but fleur de sel sprinkled on top. Maybe? Yes! Check.
Four: It was not named cupcake on the menu, but I don't care.

On my first day in Montreal, I had dinner at La Piazzetta in the Village and had this for dessert. It was delicious and  it inspired.  This a good way to have a chocolate cupcake in hot weather and not worry about frosting and with yummy caramel oozing from the first bite, it is a sexy cupcake. I actually sighed when I tasted it.

Nichelle From Cupcakes Take The Cake Is Coming To Montreal

Les Glaceurs Montreal 2

As Rachel was just in London, and Stacie is going to Dallas, I too will be travelling and eating cupcakes.  It's my first real vacation in years and my first trip to Montreal. Although I look forward to eating poutine and going to Schwartz's for a smoked meat sandwich, I can't wait to try Montreal's finest cupcakes. My friend Mary raved about Les Glaceurs which is pictured above. Friday July 15 is my day to eat cupcakes while in Montreal so if you are a baker and want to meet for a tasting, then email me at cupcakestakethecakeATgmail.com and put "Nichelle" in the email.
