This weekend in San Francisco, Kara's Cupcakes is baking up special cupcakes decorated with an apple to commemorate Steve Jobs and support cancer research.

From their Facebook page:
"Sweeten your day for a great cause and help us commemorate Steve Jobs career! This weekend Kara's Cupcakes will have apple decorated cupcakes and will donate portions of the proceeds to the Stanford Cancer Institute!
Just look for the white apple to know you are sweeting for a great cause!"

Peach Blackberry Cupcakes, Two Ways From Angel Cakes

I stumbled upon a photo of cupcakes on Tumblr and I found Jen Angel's Flickr and then I read about the Cupcake CSA. Wow! First thing first.  Angel Cakes in San Francisco has a monthly Cupcake CSA.  Cupcakes are delivered to your door and can be vegan if you prefer.  This month's cupcake is peach blackberry which is pictured above. This month's challenge is: Alcohol!  

Delicious cupcakes from your favorite libation. This ancient drink fermented and distilled for centuries. So many possibilities using beer, wine and cocktails. Infusions of fruit, spices and herbs. A malty brew, a tasty ale, a bubbly champagne or the bite of a faraway spirit. This month will certainly be incredible, delicious fun! 

Bakers may provide small drink samples to complement their cupcake.

Tasters MUST RSVP and purchase a ticket through this Meetup. A paid ticket is required for entry for all tasters. Bring your ticket or receipt with you, we are expecting a large turnout and just as a reminder there will be NO admittance without a receipt sorry if this causes an inconvenience.

There will be first, second, and third place prizes for Taste and Appearance, a separate prize for Most Creative cupcake, and a Bakers Choice Award.

**TASTE TESTING BEGINS PROMPTLY AT 7PM**

CUPCAKE JUDGING/ATTENDEES:

Who: All friends, family and cupcake aficionados are welcome to attend, taste and judge each month's challenge.

Fee: $10 entry fee includes: cupcake tastings and a free house tea.

Bakers: Arrive for setup promptly at 6:00pm.

Meetup: July Event

Purple heart cupcakes will always win me over (plus peach blackberry and salted caramel)

There are certain things on a cupcake I'm an instant sucker for: Hello Kitty, marshmallows, owls (though Nichelle thinks "bees are the new owls"). Hearts are one of them! These are so simply and pretty; I love elaborate cupcakes, too, don't get me wrong, but sometimes the simply ones just speak to me.
