Sept 17: Cupcake Cooking Demo at Williams Sonoma

Hazel Sy of Tasty Pursuits is a cooking instructor, food writer and food photographer. In TastyPursuits.com she innovates in the kitchen by exploring and experimenting with classic and new flavors. She is doing a free baking demo on Lemon Coconut Cupcakes next Saturday. You can learn how to make moist and tender Lemon Coconut Cupcakes. The from scratch cupcake base is as simple as making a box mix, but tastier! The creamy coconut frosting makes these a decadent treat. Everyone will be able to taste the cupcakes at the end of the demo!Saturday, September 17th at 2pmWilliams Sonoma121 E 59th StreetNew York, NY 10022

The best part of my 700-calorie airport coconut cupcake was...the coconut

Quick review of this cupcake I bought last night at JFK (don't have the receipt in front of me and I don't remember the price). The coconut on top was the best part. I ate that all off. The frosting was okay, but as you can see, there was SO much of it. Too much. Too much of all of it. The cake was eh, not really worth eating but not totally disgusting. For an airport cupcake it was okay, but I look forward to the day when proper cupcake bakeries open shop in airports!

Martha's Vineyard red, white and blue (and coconut!) cupcakes

I'm visiting Martha's Vineyard in a few weeks and am excited to return to Sweet E's Cupcakes and treat my family to their deliciousness. Here are a few cupcakes from their Facebook wall photos, including how they celebrated July 4th (their red is more like red and pink, but I don't mind). They have two locations, 18 Main Street in Vineyard Haven and 6 Water Street in Edgartown! Respective phone numbers: 508-693-6400 and 508-627-7578.
